"Pengrupukan" Celebration in Bunutan Village / 2023
Every year before Nyepi, the Day of Silence that marks the beginning of the Balinese Year, all villages get together to celebrate their version of New Year's Eve during Pengrupukan. Last year, that ceremony of purification of evil spirits before a fresh start involved everyone at Bali Jaladara and especially our very own Dewidiari Rachman, as she was in charge of creating the coreography for the main performance in collaboration our village's passionate Youth Organization.
CEREMONIESWayan and Dewidiari Rachman are highly respected members of their community.
One of the many reasons why is their commitment to and involvement with every religious ceremony and artistic event that takes place in their neighbourhood, in particular, and Bali, in general. Wayan is usually in charge of designing and organizing a wide variety of ceremonies, being involved not only in programming but also in charge of decorations, invitations, scheduling and the progress of the procession during the ceremonies in which processions happen. |
COMMUNITYBali Jaladara organizes community programs, like the "Ogoh Ogoh afternoon" in March 2017, for the Bunutan children (video below) and the making of the Barong figure with local produce such as rice, beans and a variety of fruits and spices symbolizing offerings.

Not only in his village but also around Bali, he mentors the young and leads the adults into the rich artistic legacy of their ancestors, while inspiring their own creativity.

"Tumpek Krulut" is a day of affection manifested in the beauty of the Gamelan sound. A very special ceremony during which the Balinese honor the performing arts and our studio, as well as our Gamelan Orchestra, received their blessing by a local priest.
